Initiates and follows up closely on all geology related studies in new reservoirs carried out by consultants or shareholders in assigned field/concession area. Acts as a source of guidance to less experienced reservoir geologist. Assists in integrating geological study findings with other studies undertaken by the assigned team. Provides advice to other team members on reservoir geology aspects of the study. Duties Performed: Develops, directs and participates in geological reservoir studies aimed at constructing and/or improving geological models. Includes coordinating and defining coring, logging and testing requirements. Coordinates and checks the preparation of geological requirements and geological predictions of appraisal and development wells. Coordinates and participates in the preparation of reservoir appraisal sheets. Includes reviewing and evaluating test results. Participates in the definition of contracted special field testing related to reservoir geology. Includes defining scope of special test required, preparing specifications, evaluating bids and recommending final award and contract features as assigned. Ensures contractors’ compliance with contract terms and schedules and monitors progress and performance through regular activity reports. Also verifies contractors’ invoices, recommends payment or adjustment as appropriate. Directs less experienced reservoir geologists in the team and carries out more complex studies as required. Includes providing advice and assistance to reservoir geologists carrying out studies, such as advising on appropriate data, input and analyses of results. Reviews and/or prepares study progress reports and ensures adherence to Company and professional standards and procedures established for such studies. Ensures the overall receipt, calibration, plotting tabulation of data and updating files of database, used in reservoir geology studies. Includes establishing new tests as appropriate, establishing priorities and schedules for calibration, computer manipulation and plotting of received data. Reviews results to ensure appropriate output is provided to other Reservoir Geologists for incorporation into their studies. Also ensures computer data bases, well-files and related project files are updated and that appropriate copies, indexing and storage of data is carried on time. Keeps abreast of new development in reservoir geology. Includes attending and representing the Company in conferences, symposia, fora, society meetings and relating functions to identify new development of interest to Company. Prepares reports/papers on such functions and circulates to other parties concerned. Participates in the ongoing training and development of UAE national employees as assigned. Includes assessing employee training and development needs, preparing structured familiarization, programs, monitoring progress and counseling employees as required. Knows the Company health, safety and environment policy, procedures, regulations and objectives as they relate to his area of responsibility. Ensures that work under his control is performed in a safe and environmentally sound manner. Conducts effective accident investigation and follow up. Implements specific safety management system program activities assigned to him. Carries out other similar or related duties such as participating in the planning of the work of Geology Facility Center and Core Store in conjunction with the Core Store Supervisor; coordinating the preparation of data required for the team’s contribution to the geological monthly report, preparing and presenting technical reports and presentation, as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Requirements : Bachelors Degree in Geology. 8-10 years experience in Petroleum Geology including at least 4 year in carbonate reservoir geology. Very good knowledge of English.
