As service providers strive to leverage their network assets to deliver a compelling array of innovative business, residential and mobile services to their customers, the optimization of their transport infrastructure plays a key role in ensuring profitability and a superior user experience. With market leadership across both IP and optics domains, Alcatel-Lucent has taken the lead with a comprehensive solution that optimizes transport efficiency regardless of service mix. The Service Portal is a custom web-based application which leverages Alcatel-Lucent’s 5620 Service Aware Manager (SAM) to enable customers to easily provision, monitor and trouble shoot their 7x50 Service Router based IP networks. The IPD NDE Service Portal team is looking for highly motivated individuals for the role of Software Verification Specialist to secure and grow revenue through high levels of product quality and customer satisfaction. This is a hands-on technical role in a dynamic environment, working directly with end customers, developers, architects and product management to provide superior pre-deployment product verification and support for initial customer deployments. Specific responsibilities include: Understanding and evaluating the overall SP solution (hardware, software, systems, networks) from multiple QA perspectives: performance, functional, robustness, traffic throughput, quality of service and interoperability Designing and constructing network test harnesses; provisioning and configuring networks to simulate live customer environments, including the addition of new or upgraded elements into the solution environment Designing and implementing manual and/or automated tests to validate the monitoring, provisioning and reporting protocols used in customer networks; reporting and retesting defects Planning, executing, tracking of all test and QA activities for projects in an iterative delivery process, using judgment to strategically balance quality, schedule and cost; chairing Problem Review Boards as an advocate for the customer Responding to all customer issues and queries during acceptance testing in a timely and effective manner, isolating problems to minimize service impacts with creative workarounds and fast turnaround on escalations; proactive planning and execution of customer software and network upgrades


· Four year degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience · 5+ years Product Verification experience and/or Customer Support · Knowledge of network management and OSS concepts and basic protocols · Knowledge of IP Networking and familiar with concepts such as Routing Protocols (i.e. OSPF,BGP), DHCP, RADIUS AAA, MPLS, IP VPN, VLAN, VLL/VPLS, etc. · Proficient with UNIX · Experience in customer-facing roles · Ability to work independently on issues directly with the customer · Excellent troubleshooting skills, investigating/reproducing issues, raising tickets and driving issues to timely resolution · Ability to produce comprehensive high-quality test strategies, test plans and test cases with accurately triaged and prioritized defect reports · Experience developing and executing performance test plans · Strong interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills · Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and to work in a fast paced, innovative environment · Ability to travel occasionally to customer sites · Ability to occasionally work additional on-call hours/shifts DESIRED EXPERIENCE: · Experience with Alcatel-Lucent IPD products (7x50 Service Routers, 7705, 7210, 5620 SAM, 5670 RAM) · Experience working with a telecommunications service provider · Experience integrating 3rd party network management software · Experience with OSS/BSS implementation projects · Java software development experience is an asset · Experience with automated test tools and building automated test scripts
