Blanc Coffee & Food is a coffeehouse / club (during weekends) which has offered me a great opportunity to express my bartending skills gathered so far, develop them and be part of a wonderful work place and community. I have been working at Blanc since its opening and I have fully assisted the owner in creating the bar menu, the food menu and actively participated at work meetings (for the menus, drink prices, bar setup, bar supplies). As the main bartender, I have trained other bartenders, I have offered my constant support and opinion to the bar owner, besides my daily duties. For the bartending point of view, I have prepared drinks in a professional manner, according to the pre-established recipes, mix ingredients, garnish them and assist guests in their drink preferences. I have kept the bar permanently clean, replenish supplies whenever needed and made the stock for the next day.
Meanwhile working for Blanc Coffee and Food, due to the fact that I was working in shifts, I was able to perform my practice stage for university, in a hotel, as a receptionist. There I had to check in and out guests, make sure their needs are fulfilled and kept their tracking documents in computer.
As a bartender and waiter in the above mentioned hotel, I had performed multiple tasks: from bartender, bar server to waiter, serving the guests not only drinks, but also delivering food at their tables. I did the setup for my own bar, and also I did the bar and food setup for events in the hotel’s location (weddings, gala evenings, baptism, charity balls). Working there, I had the rare opportunity to serve, one evening, the Royal Family of Romania: Prince Duda, Princess Margareta of Austria and King Mihai.
This Restaurant represents for me my first encounter with the hospitality industry, from the job point of view. Here I did my very first cocktails, I learned about coffee, liquors, spirits, wine and food pairing and bar setups. I was cleaning and sanitizing the bar, I learned about food regulations in Romania, drink display, and making a supply order.
