Provide support to the Bank’s personnel for all s/w applications, via phone/email. - Provide support for hardware, peripherals, network access; - Provide administration of computer accounts, users accounts and passwords; - Troubleshoot computer problems; determine source of the problem and advice on appropriate action. - Provide support for Microsoft Windows Suite and other software as assigned. - Serve as liaison between users and other Bank’s departments to resolve the raised issues. - Keep track of user requests; assignee priority to the requests according to their importance, i.e., emergency, immediate, high priority, moderate, general or suggestion. - Monitor help desk application and e-mail for support inquiries.
As a system administrator there are daily routines like: - Carrying out all administration matters, including monitoring system performance, ensuring successful backup procedures and developing / implementing disaster recovery. - Setting up the communication infrastructure to provide effective, efficient interaction within a prescribed user area. - Ensuring system standards are developed and observed. - Providing management of networks. - Estimating costs of system hardware/software changes including competitive analysis of future requirements. - Adding and configuring new workstations. - Setting up user accounts. - Installing system-wide software. My activities would also contain the design and the implementation of network LAN/WAN solutions, using technologies as Routing, Switching, Wireless, VPNs, Firewalls. I have jurisdiction over Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows 2008 and Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007 server installation and I’ve acquired much knowledge regarding TCP/IP protocol and working within large networks. The configuration of routers and switches are also no difficult tasks I undertake. Added to the above would be fault finding and rectification, responding to general user enquiries, and just about anything else that is technical in nature, and these assure that no day is ever the same.
