The VPI project leader is a critical position within the product planning function supporting the implementation of the CGT global product strategy. The main purpose of this position is to lead the development and implementation of small scale, class 2 VPI projects as defined by the CGT product plans. Utilizing a team of indirect reports the role is responsible for the building and management of cross functional and multi cultural teams as befits the needs of the VPI project. Whilst the scope of the role is global and applicable to any of the CGT business units, this particular role will be based in CGT Craiova, Romania and will be responsible for providing local VPI project leadership on S75 and other large scale VPI programs. Responsibilities: • Developing Class 2, VPI project Charters and Contracts to assure clarity of objectives, deliverables and resource requirements including: o Financial targets o Project schedules o Value Package Profile (to fulfill customer expectations) o Capital, expenses and headcount needs • Building and leading effective cross functional and multi cultural teams to deliver against VPI project contracts. • Driving functional team leaders in the execution of all functional tasks. • Communication and presentation of project information to key stakeholders including executive management, project sponsors, functional excellence leaders, project teams and customers. • Conducting senior management reviews in line with the VPI Management review process to influence and drive decisions on project progression. • Ensuring project team functional leaders conduct functional reviews in line with the VPI Management review process. • Developing and applying tracking processes to monitor / mitigate risks, raise / resolve issues and ensure delivery of project objectives. • Utilizing appropriate project management tools and processes, e.g. Cummins VPI process, Six sigma, project planning, risk / issue management. • This is a global role with responsibilities to deliver Class 2, VPI projects across the CGT organization and support the implementation of global product strategy. • Support the Aggregate Project Planning (APP) process.
Experience Required Leadership & delivery of projects incorporating cross functional and multi cultural team management, project financial analysis, communication and the application of new product development and introduction processes. Familiarity with six sigma tools and techniques. Education/qualifications required Qualified to degree level, preferably in an engineering, business or professional project management discipline.
