DEPARTMENT We are a project-driven organisation, currently employing over 200 people in the UK with significant growth targets to treble in size by 2015. The Commercial/ Finance Director role has a strategic management focus and, as head of the Finance and Business Support Department (F&BS), reports both to the MD of the Company Technology UK Ltd business and to the CFO of Technology R&D in Denmark. The main responsibility of the F&BS department is to secure continuous business development within Company Technology R&D in line with the overall Company strategy. We are looking for a Commercial Finance Director for an interesting and challenging position in UK. This position is very central in our large and rapidly growing organisation. As a result of our current growth, the amount as well as the variety of tasks within this function is expected to increase as the number of new projects grows continuously. RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS * Leading the F&BS team in the UK, which includes finance and administration, facilities, QSE, grant control and project control; * Acting as Company Secretary and Senior Accounting Officer for Company Technology UK Limited in addition to playing a strategic role in the UK Leadership Team; * Developing and implementing business controls to ensure Regulatory and Corporate compliance without stifling creativity in the business; * Identifying strategic and operational risk and mitigation plans; * Ensuring Strategic and Operating Business plans are aligned with Corporate Objectives; * Driving the organisation towards the achievement of identified KPIs; * Knowledge-sharing and staff development within the department; * Driving internal process efficiency and cost reduction initiatives, as well as the continuous improvement of our business processes e.g. stage-gate-models, general project governance and regular management reporting; * Ownership of Business Case Development; * Securing global alignment and compliance regarding our process framework; * Identifying and developing key relationships with Internal and External Stakeholders; * Effective management and utilisation of Internal and External Professional Advisers; * Identifying and managing Local Community and Environment impacts and opportunities; * Owning and managing all Commercial commitments and obligations of the company; * Developing and challenging the commercial aspects of Technology projects and securing alignment across the value chain; * Keeping up to date with international developments of standards, solutions and processes within the company as well as the wind industry. A key element of the role is leading the development of business cases for the projects and there is often complex and equally significant involvement with the other business units globally. Some aspects of the role are likely to require the post holder to be involved in financial projects beyond the UK so will need to spend time in Denmark and other Company business units globally. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Work location will be the new Company Technology Centre on Isle of Wight, UK where there is a focus on design technology, this is complimented by the largest Blade Test Centre in the Wind Power business, where focus will be on culture, innovation and integrated product development.
QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE The ideal candidate will have: * Accountancy qualification (ACA or ACCA); * More then 5 years of managerial experience of a multi-disciplinary team; * Strong commercial background with working knowledge of contract law both in the UK and overseas; * Significant experience in an engineering/manufacturing environment; * Project-controlling experience, preferably from R&D environment (moved up), including knowledge of portfolio and resource management; * An engineering qualification would be an additional benefit; * Proven leadership abilities; * Experience of working professionally in more than one country; * Strong personality with cross functional leadership experience that secures commitment and trustworthy relationships with internal and external partners; * Thorough business insight as well as the ability to promote customer focus; * The ability to work independently in cross-organisational projects; * A proactive and extrovert approach to leading your surroundings with excellent communication and networking skills; * A positive and results-oriented personality that carries out assignments in a systematic and structured manner.
