We have planned and designed numerous metros in all corners of the earth including Crossrail in London , Thameslink, East London Line, Victoria Station Upgrade, Budapest Metro, Singapore , United States and much of the London Underground metro system. We continue to be involved in some of the world's most challenging projects. As a Senior Metro Designer Engineer in Company, involvement and key project management in a range of global projects supporting and being responsible for a variety of key deliverables from feasibility, design, analysis through to completion, people and/or responsible for overall project management. This is a long-term career appointment with the opportunity to advance to more senior management positions within Company. JOB DESCRIPTION An important addition to Company's Metro Design team, activity and responsibilities would be working in a world leading engineering discipline supporting project dynamics and client's expectations. A key team member and project lead (as necessary) focused on effective and reliable delivery, additional focus would be contribution, skill set and professional development. Day-to-day responsibilities could include but not limited to: * Project Management and coordination with other disciplines including, Structural, environmental, mechanical and electrical engineers covering a range of project requirements from new build to modification, maintenance or refurbishment; * Project scope dependent, potentially responsible for management of preliminary property protection (settlement) studies, metro methodology report, cost estimates, feasibility studies, construction methods and coordination with systems and station consultants; * Detailed design calculations and drawings and potential involvement in drawing productions, design feasibilities and interfaces; * Support multiple design teams in design development from RIBA Stage C – F coordinate the integration of engineering and architectural designs (IDC) for RIBA D and F deliverables; * Support and potentially lead on Bid management assisting in tenders for a variety of metro and underground work projects; * Responsible for timely production and delivery of reliable design solutions, reports, specifications or drawings; * Become integral to the division’s operations and contribute to the business and the team’s technical development; * Assist in the management of new graduates supporting their development and capability; * Responsible for helping to organise, plan and execute many aspects of the assessment programme including site testing and inspection, analysis, classification and reporting.
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION Candidates will have relevant qualifications, engineering/ architecture discipline chartered. Metro Design Engineering experienced and able to demonstrate exceptional analytical, forecasting and Technical competences. Successful Candidates are likely to have the following characteristics: * Strong academic qualifications ideally a civil engineering/ architecture (or equivalent) preferably with MEng or MA qualifications although not essential; * Chartered status is essential; * Experience of working within a design consultancy on multiple concurrent commissions, and representing the company to clients; * Design risk management, construction programming, tendering process and quality assurance management; * Experience of project management processes, from feasibility and design through to construction and close-out; * Experience of methods, tools and techniques for the design and assessment of metro supporting assessment to a range of project demands; * Ideally detailed experience in structural design and understanding of basic soil or rock mechanics; * Skills in metro design will be highly valued and utilised; * Good communication, team working and problem solving skills are essential; * They should also have the necessary drive to achieve their goals and deliver commercial success; * A personal drive to successfully conclude project specifics.
