As Powertrain Facility Manager you’ll take the responsibility for delivering major Powertrain Test Facility upgrade programmes from concept strategy right through to final sign-off – including engine, vehicle emission, transmission and driveline tests. It’s a fast-paced, challenging role where you’ll lead a team of specialist engineers and identify future test facility requirements based on inputs from internal stakeholders and external organisations. You’ll then mould these into an integrated strategy that includes facility specifications, detailed costs and budgets, project planning, supplier selection and acceptance criteria.
Dynamic and energetic, you’ll have previously used your financial acumen to manage programmes involving complex multi-million pound projects. Your interpersonal skills will enable you to build confident relationships with external suppliers, while your abilities as a strategy developer and budget controller will ensure we meet and exceed our targets. This is a role where understanding of powertrain facility specifications and delivery will be an advantage, as would experience of instigating far-reaching improvements in processes and efficiency. We’d also prefer you to have a good degree in a relevant subject, and good all-round knowledge of MS Office.You will lead a small group of specialist engineers and report to the Senior Manager Powertrain Test Operations. In this role you will use your skills and experience to identify future test facility requirements using inputs from key internal stakeholders and external organisations . You will then mould these requirements into an integrated strategy including; • Facility Specifications • Detailed costs and budgets • Project planning and timing • Supplier Selection • Acceptance Criteria and handover The role also has responsibility for total budget control of the Powertrain Test Operations department -a group of c300 team members that deliver all the required testing capability and operational support for the Powertrain development. This includes both revenue budgets (consumables, maintenance, calibration, purchased services) and non product capital expenditure. Interface with internal Powertrain Product Development teams to understand their future test requirements and feedback facility update proposals. The role will require a good broad understanding of the functionality and operation principles of major powertrain components to enable you to interpret the engineer’s ideas and to develop a ‘peer to peer’ relationship with these groups. Develop facility upgrade proposals and strategies to meet Powertrain Engineering’s short, medium and long term requirements.
