The position will be responsible for supporting the Daniel Measurement Products organization by working within the Strategic Sourcing group to: develop new suppliers, work to improve existing suppliers, and manage new implementation projects. The position will work closely with external suppliers and internal stakeholders. This person will function on, and lead, global teams consisting of Engineering, Buyers, Commodity Managers, and Quality. Responsibilities * Lead the Strategic Procurement department in evaluation and approval of new suppliers, thru active participation in supplier selection and qualification process * Lead supplier development projects to improve suppliers ability to meet on-time delivery, lead-time and PPM requirements * Support Strategic Commodity Managers to ensure adequate supply chain is in place * Support our global factory operations through fast resolution of supplier non-conformances – including root cause analysis and long term corrective actions * Manage initial part qualification working closely with supplier, internal manufacturing and quality, and supplier Quality Engineers * Lead drawing and specification review process on new part implementation dedicated to driving continuous improvement within our supplier partners by supporting New Product Development (NPD), Strategic Sourcing, Current Issue Resolution, Lean Policy Deployment, and Value Analysis/Value Engineering. * Establish Key Performance Indicators for each project * Report project progress against established Key Performance Indicator targets * Work to ensure smooth production ramp up is achieved * Assist in preparing and participating in Commodity Reviews as it pertains to supplier development and performance * Communicate and enforce the EMR Rules for Ethics and Commodity Management * Other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Global supplier development manager to maintain and improve quality, cost and delivery performance. * Willing to travel in a short notice to supplier locations as and when needed.
Requirements Education / Experience / Language skills required: * College degree in Engineering (ME, IE, EE, QE) * 3 to 5 years of experience in purchasing, quality, manufacturing, materials, or related discipline * Outstanding project management skills. Must be able to meet multiple commitments in cross-functional team environments under tight deadlines * Supplier quality experience in manufactured products and foundries * Knowledge in ISO- 9001-2008, PED, ATEX , AGA, API, ASTM, ASME, and NORSOK requirements * Knowledge in a broad range of commodities, including: castings; bar stock; flanges; machined parts; stampings; rubber parts; plastic parts; fasteners; and fabrications. * Potential for advancing career to higher level * Proven track record of establishing and meeting commitments and organizational skills to lead purchasing efforts * Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to communicate with suppliers in other countries * Experience with multiple facets of manufacturing of components * Must be able to travel domestically and internationally (up to 30%) Other Skills and Abilities: * Strong presentation skills – must be comfortable and competent at presenting technical information to senior management and defending position * Organizational and analytical skills * Project management skills * Ability to work effectively with all levels of management. To develop and evaluate foreign sources. * Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to communicate with suppliers in other countries * Ability to comprehend and interpret engineering drawings, quality systems requirements and customer specifications * Ability to understand component requirements and communicate requirements to suppliers * Possess sufficient oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with suppliers and all levels of staff throughout the organization * Ability to solve problems independently * Solid personal computer skills with strong capability with Microsoft Office products; Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
