SUMMARY OF ROLE The role of the Technical Specialist is to use their knowledge of specific applications or (and) domain knowledge of client industries to define and implement solutions for our clients. A Technical Specialist is the reference point for others and has the required knowledge to implement the technology or Emerson product concerned within a cross product PSS solution. They will ensure that their specialist product knowledge and skills are current, and will have a support role both within Emerson and externally. The Technical Specialist is responsible for the delivery of the solution, within their scope of expertise, to the requisite quality standard, in accordance with a schedule and hours budget that has the approval of the relevant Project Manager and, where appropriate, utilising the Emerson Process Management global resources and standards. The Technical Specialist works across the full project lifecycle, including: •Opportunity Identification/Sales Support (Project Engineering Process: Appraise), •Solution Development (Project Engineering Process: Pre-FEED/FEED), •Project Execution (Project Engineering Process: Execute), •Post-Implementation Analysis. PRINCIPAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES oBusiness Consulting •Work with a Business Consultant and (or) Solution Architect to confirm solutions which address identified customer pains in their specific area. •Present these solutions in a suitable form, for clients in their language and where appropriate in a way easily understood by non-technical personnel. o Sales Support •Qualify identified opportunities, including specification of appropriate technical implementation strategies. •Provide technical support to the sales team throughout the sales process. •Provide technical input into proposal generation and resource estimation. •Provide an assessment of technical risk associated with potential work. •Be the technical reference for the project within your field of expertise. •Ensure a good fit between order content and our product / execution capability by guiding scope definition throughout the sales process. •Assist in developing sales support material which can be used by European front offices. •Present technology or solutions during customer/sales events or seminars. o Project Execution and Support •Support and execute projects that involve technologies within your field of expertise. •Be the adviser for project execution within your field of expertise and be directly linked with Project Manager and/or Project Lead. •Participate in and lead client support activities such as: site survey; feed study; troubleshooting / support call resolution; system modifications and training. •Provide a central point of contact for technical expertise in your areas of expertise. •Organise internal knowledge transfer - undertake regular knowledge updates, using workshops where appropriate, to the European Engineering team with respect to their specialist fields. •Work closely with best cost centers in developing execution support and capability. •Ensure that Company’s quality control processes and relevant standards are followed. o Process, Product & Solution Improvement •Identify possible improvements to the sales and project execution processes. •When encountered, highlight potential improvements in the Emerson products used. •Analyze executed projects to identify elements which could be used to give benefit to future projects. •Assist in defining and creating standard solutions to maximize effectiveness. •Assist in developing implementation capability for solutions based on the supported technology within the organization. o Business Development •Identify and produce marketing material based on work performed such as quantified business results for projects undertaken. •As required develop and maintain relationships with key third parties, such as vendors of complementary technologies. Other responsibilities or tasks including Ethics, Health, Safety and Environment, Information Security policy that are within your skills and abilities, whenever reasonably instructed. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE •Engineering degree. •Minimum 5, preferably 10 years of experience in our industry (Network architecture, Automation, DCS, and field implementation). •Extensive knowledge on network architectures and administration, core network infrastructure components, wireless technology and fieldbus. Ideally have professional certifications such as Cisco CCNA or higher with a specialization •Detailed technical knowledge in one or more specific technology areas. Cyber Security, Information technology (IT), virtualization, operating systems, Active Directory, Patch Management, Backup and Recovery, cloud computing, programming software. •Extensive experience with direct client contact and managing expectations. •Sufficient process understanding to be able to work comfortably on new engagements on processes where there is no prior knowledge and be recognized as an expert. •Local language skills with proficient English (verbal and written); excellent communicator •Be a member or working towards membership of an appropriate professional institution •Willingness to travel in Europe (up to 50%) is mandatory CORE COMPETENCIES (Korn Ferry) •Instills Trust •Drives Results •Situational Adaptability •Customer Focus •Decision Quality •Cultivates Innovation •Persuades
