The Video Business Unit (BU) was formed on January 1st 2013 combining the video assets of Alcatel-Lucent into a single unit responsible for the sales, development and delivery of all video products and services. Within this business unit, a Video Systems Integration group has been created, with the goal being the creation and provision of a single team, responsible for E2E consultancy and integration services to support complex video solutions in customer deployments, as a complimentary function to the product portfolio of Alcatel-Lucent. Within the Systems Integration group, the Solution Consulting team provide the core Video Experts () to define, architect, lead and deliver these complex projects. This team is primarily comprised of people from a ‘Solution Architecture’ background, but also possessing strong Consulting skills, all combined with extensive knowledge across the entire video ecosystem. This allows this team to provide the knowledge and credibility to ensure our customers see Alcatel-Lucent as the leading provider of video integration services in the industry. A open position has been created within the Solution Consulting team. We are seeking an experienced customer facing ‘consultant’ who can demonstrate a proven track record of being involved in and leading complex E2E video projects. This role is being offered in EMEA, with an international remit to support projects at a global level. The Role The Solution Consultant is an experienced customer-facing engineer, typically coming from a Video/Telecom background, who is at ease with the end-to-end process of scoping, defining, documenting and deploying complex video centric solutions. The role is both flexible and dynamic, requiring the candidate to be able to support and understand business requirements, assess architecture problems, document (in great detail) solutions, and to work alongside a delivery/implementation team to see them through to conclusion, all the while following best practices and taking into account the strategic vision of the Video BU The successful candidate will be just as comfortable writing a technical specification, as (s)he is leading complex discussions, internal and with customers at both the technical and business level. This needs to be achieved by maintaining high standards of work for themselves and others in the team, by acting as a technical lead/authority to direct the contributions of others, and by building and maintaining the role of ‘trusted technical advisor’ to the customer and the whole project team. We deliver high quality solutions, on time, within budget, and by meeting and exceeding the customers expectations. Main Responsibilities: Act as a single technical point of contact for project teams that contain ALU, customer and 3rd party technical contributors. Work closely alongside a programme lead that controls all commercial, planning and communication aspects of the project. Be the technical authority for the project, responsible for ensuring the quality of inputs from other parties, and ensuring the project remains aligned with architecture and solution requirements throughout the project lifecycle. Support, own and drive customer facing technical meetings and workshops, in both a ‘facilitation’ and ‘contributory’ capacity as required. Lead and write technical specifications. Interact with technical colleagues in our product divisions and in the teams of our customers and partners. Provide Technical engagement leadership for complex and challenging large scale projects. Capture and provide feedback of customer and marketplace requirements to the Video BU to support on-going development and refinement of the Video BU strategy and portfolio
Demonstrable experience of leading complex video solutions and consultancy projects. · Results oriented approach to work. · Knowledgeable on both IPTV and OTT video infrastructures and solutions. · Sound networking knowledge, including IP, firewalls, routers, and multicast. · Exceptional facilitation and (English) presentation skills. Strong communicator, at ease dealing with all levels up to CxO both internally and with customers. · The successful candidate will welcome the ability to share knowledge and know-how with others, and will be a strong collaborator who takes great reward from working in challenging and demanding projects · Broad knowledge of E2E video space, including (but not limited to) content encoding and headend, DRM, content delivery networks, content management systems, OSS/BSS integration, reporting and analytics, clients and STB’s, modern streaming protocols (HLS, Smooth, Dash, Transport Streams). · Quick absorber of new technologies and products with an analytical mind to pinpoint potential weaknesses. · Able to lead virtual teams in customer engagements, and act as a single point of ownership for all technical aspects of a solution during project scope, engagement and proposal.
