    My main role is Airfield maintenance due to strategic demand and geographical location, I run one team consisting of Airfield Operating Surface (AOS). The complete scope is catered for by 25 staff of   mixed nationality. These staff provides functions such:
    -	Maintaining all permanent and temporary US Air Force- AOS and AGL infrastructure: concrete, asphalt, metal, composite airfield matting, gravel and soil (repair cracks, surface breaks, heaves, settlements, joint spalls, surface scaling, joint seal for all surface types and airfield ground lighting
    -	Markings and airfield signs: paint, re-touch and re-furbish all visual air navigation facilities, lines, markings, signs and surface indications for all surface types.
    -	 Airfield damage repair: emergency repairs in the most expeditious manner possible in order to restore full operational capability of the airfield and to eliminate risk to aircraft due to damage caused by unforeseen events such as rocket attacks, accidents, chemical damage, extreme weather conditions.
    -	AOS Sweeping, Snow and ice clearance, FOD Prevention and Mitigation, Dust control and daily inspections in line with the PMP and daily works as directed.
    -	Runway Friction Test
    -	Minor new works - design
    -	Runway rubber removal
    KAF is the busiest Airfield in the world for aircraft movements (rotary & fixed wing) for a single runway. The Base covers an area of approximately 16Km2, its perimeter is 19.5Km in length, the Airfield Operating Surface covers an area of 2,283,780 m2, with the main runway 225,388m2. The Base population is circa 30,000 personnel made up of approximately 21,000 Military and the remaining 9,000 made up of a mixture of Government Civilians and embedded contractors.
