• Gained understanding in core Chemical Engineering curricula such as fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, reaction engineering and transport phenomena • Applied systematic mathematical analysis and problem solving skills for various engineering problems. • Practical laboratory assignments encouraged distinct technical and practical skills: o Utilizing measuring instruments and machinery with safety and caution in mind. o Application of data collection and analysis models for further relative speculation. o Thought provoking imagination with scrutiny for observation. • Designed several processing plants, increasing in complexity as development progressed; advanced in both technical and practical skills: o FEED Deliverables: Plant Design, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), General Arrangement Drawings (GAs) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) all to British Standards whilst considering cost, efficiency, environment, safety, cost and robustness. o Unit Operations: Design and Sizing a wide selection of unit operations, (sand filters, pumps, distillation columns, cooling towers, clarifiers, heat exchangers and more). o Safety: Understanding of COSHH, Produced HAZOP analysis for all designs and performed research on the root cause of many chemical-related failures, as well as initiating investigations. o Applications: Produced P&IDs, GAs, and PFDs using autoCAD, MATLAB and Aspen HYSYS. • Exceptional team working, communication and leadership skills through group work as well as opportunities presented by the university to study in Malaysia for a year.
