Interviews and corresponds with vendors; keeps informed of new products and market conditions and trends. Confers with and assists officials of all departments to determine purchasing needs and specifications. Corresponds with State entities to ensure University needs are handled expeditiously. Maintains records on purchase price information on both open market and contract purchases and revises these as conditions changes; obtains quotations on open market purchases. Analyzes purchasing trends to determine if an agency contract or statewide contract would benefit the University. Assists in the supervision and training of less experienced buying personnel and generally is responsible for the supervision of one procurement assistant.
